If your company wants to connect Thynk to Gmail, please check with your IT department. They will usually set this up using Salesforce help articles.
If they need further instructions, please share this article with them.
The first step is to add the Salesforce Chrome Extension. Follow these steps:
Log into Google
Select the following link to install the Salesforce Chrome Extension
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/salesforce/jjghhkepijgakdammjldcbnjehfkfmha
Click on ‘Add to Chrome’ to install the extension on your browser. You might need to confirm by clicking ‘Add Extension’ in a popup.
You will receive a message that installation of the Salesforce Chrome extension was successful
The next step is to integrate Thynk with your Gmail account. Follow these steps:
Once the Salesforce extension is added, go to your Gmail account. If you are already logged in, you might need to refresh the page.
You should now see a new Salesforce integration pane on the right side of your Gmail page.
In the Salesforce integration pane, you’ll be asked to log in with your Thynk credentials. Enter your Thynk username and password and click ‘Log In’.
If multi-factor authentication is added to your Org, you will see an authorization request.
Check your mobile device for the pop up request and click ‘Approve’.
You have successfully connected to Thynk/Salesforce when you see the panel load on the right-hand side of your Gmail screen:
After logging in, you can now use Thynk directly from within Gmail.
For example, you can view Thynk record details related to the email sender and the recipients, create new records, log emails and see all relevant Thynk activities.
If your experience is the following, you have the Salesforce Chrome Extension selected within your general Google page vs. your Gmail account.
Log in to your Gmail account or refresh your Gmail account page to see the Salesforce extension within your Gmail account page vs. general Google page.
You’ll be asked to log in with your Salesforce (Thynk) credentials again. Enter your Thynk username and password and click ‘Log In’.
You should close out of the Google Salesforce Chrome Extension so you are only seeing your Gmail Salesforce Chrome Extension.
The extension automatically updates with each Salesforce release. There’s no need to get a new version of the extension when a new Salesforce release is available.
