At the end of this lesson you will know...
Where to go to find which agencies book for a specific company
Sometimes companies have an agreement with travel agencies or meeting planning companies to book groups and events for them. It is important for a sales person to know which agencies these companies have a relationship with because you are able to then go directly to the agency for prospecting and business development purposes.
To find out which agencies a company uses, you can leverage the data in Thynk. If you have been doing business with this company then, you should be able to find these agency bookings. Of course, this depends on your data!
To find which agencies a company uses, follow these very simple steps:
First find the account you are looking for using the global search field, and open it.
On the right side of the Account screen, click on the ‘Bookings’ tab and you will see a list of bookings here.
On the next screen, you will see a column called ‘Agency’. This way you can see which agencies have booked business for this company, as long as you entered the company name in those agency bookings. The heading says you have 2 bookings but if you had more than fit the screen, click on the ‘View All’ button to see the rest of the bookings.
It is really important for agency bookings to be tracked correctly. In a booking, if an agency is booking on behalf of a company, the ‘Company’ field must be completed. This establishes the link between agency and company and makes it easy for you to see this relationship between them.
In some cases, an agency may need to keep the company name confidential at the early booking stages. You can leave that Company field blank in the booking, however, nearer the date or when the group is in house, you would get that company information. Make sure to enter it then.
