Overview on Thynk Managed Pages (Standard Layouts)
Learning Objectives:
- Understand what Thynk managed pages are
- Know how to find out if you are currently on a managed page
Thynk Managed Pages
You may have read about our exciting new “standard” page layouts in recent release notes.
Thynk’s managed pages use the newest Salesforce technology- lightning dynamic pages. Some of the advantages of these dynamic pages are:
Ability to filter sections or individual fields on a page
- By record type: Ex. Rather than one layout per type of package item (guest room, event, product, combo product), our new managed package item page is a single page that hides and shows sections based on the record type
- By permissions: Ex. We dynamically hide fields used in troubleshooting by admins for all standard users
- Based on other fields: Ex. We have a single page for all bookings that dynamically hides and shows fields based on PMS Connection and Tax Type so that VAT customers only see VAT fields and Sales Tax customers only see Sales Tax fields
What’s the benefit of using Thynk managed pages?
- As Thynk releases new functionality and enhancements, customers on managed pages have that information available seamlessly
- All other customers will have to manually add new features to their custom views
- Training
- Thynk University references our managed our managed pages. This means that customers on managed pages will be able to use Thynk university out of the box without any extra training
- 100% up to date with the latest and greatest at Thynk
Is it possible to edit the managed page?
- Thynk managed pages are “locked” in your Thynk org, meaning that they cannot be modified.
- During onboarding, if you need to make modifications to the standard, your Thynk team will clone the page and create a custom one.
- This means that if you ever want to “go back” to the standard, it’s always there for you.
What happens once I’ve gone off the “standard” managed page?
- As soon as you clone the managed page, your org is now on a “custom” page. This means that you can add any custom fields, remove fields that are not relevant, and make additional fields required.
- As new fields and components are released with new versions of Thynk, they will not be added to custom fields unless you have explicitly opted in.
Are there any pages that are always custom?
- Pages with external documents like Negotiated Rates and Bookings are always custom.
How can I check if my org is on the “Standard” managed version?
1. Find the object via Setup -> Object Manager
2. Click into Lightning Record Pages
Thynk managed pages are always in “lightning record pages,” not page layouts
3. See which page is assigned as Org Default
Thynk’s managed pages will always be labeled as “(Managed)” and will not have an edit button.
