How to Create & Manage Taxes


A tax is a fee collected by the government on a service or product. In Thynk this can be either a percentage or a flat amount. 


Across the tax jurisdictions for each property in an org, admins should gather a set of all applicable taxes. Read more about taxes here and follow the guide below to create and manage taxes.


1. Click on App Launcher



2. Type "tax"


3. Click on Taxes


4. Click on New


5. Type "NYC Sales Tax"


6. Click on Tax Type - Taxes can either be standard (any tax imposed by a government) or service fees (resort fees or other add ons charged by the property).


7. Click on Standard


8. Click on Fee Type


9. Click on Currency

Fee type can be either currency or percentage.


10.  Since you selected currency, you would type the amount here, for example: it could be an additional $50 for resort fee

If currency is selected, currency amount will be required. If percentage is selected, percent amount will be required.


11. If the tax is compounding or service fee exclusive, check either of those. For a refresher on compounding and service fee exclusive, go here.

12. Click on 'Save'
