How to Use the Room Block Manager

How to add guest rooms on a Room Block Manager

  1. On the App launcher, search and select ‘Bookings’
  2. Find and select on the Booking you would like to use
  3. On the booking, scroll up to '> Room Block Manager' and click on it to open the feature
    Click on Room Block Manager

  4. Here you can add room types, by clicking on 'New' next to Guest Rooms
    Click on New

  5. This opens up a page where you can complete all the fields. Note, if you need more than one room type, you can select them here at the same time).
  6. Click on Save

How to review and edit the blocked rooms

Once you’ve added your guest rooms you are able to review them. By default, guest rooms will be inactive (gray text and unchecked boxes).

A rate plan is required to add a guest room. You may notice that sometimes prices are set to 0. This is because Thynk only pulls rate prices for a set time period (typically one year), and the dates on the quote may not have a rate set yet. In this scenario, you can either look in your PMS for the rate or reach out to your revenue manager about what rate to set and simply type a price over the 0 amount.

  1. Tick the check-boxes start and end date for this room type. The days in-between will automatically fill out.

2. If you need to change the number of rooms for part of the stay, you can easily click on that room, for the date applicable and enter the new number of rooms

3. If you wish to delete the room type for the last day of the booking, you can un-select tthe checkbox for that room type on the applicable day
If you un-select the start day checkbox all days will be removed.

4. There are also 3 Toggles available on the Room Block Manager. They don’t make any adjustments on the actual booking but provide a visual aid.

  1. With Tax: You can turn this on or off if you want to view the prices with or without tax
  2. Corporate Currency: If you are part of a large organization, and your corporate team uses a different currency than your property currency. You can use this toggle to choose one of the two currencies.
  3. Show Available Rooms: We have two different formats on how we show Room Type Availability. The toggle can switch between the formats to show or hide ‘Available Rooms’ on the Room Block Manager.
    1. {Available Rooms + {Total Rooms Booked / Total Rooms - (Out of Order)} + Occupancy %}



5. Click save to save all changes

If guest rooms are added to the Booking as part of a Package, they will appear in the Room Block Manager but they will not be editable. You will see a lock icon where the delete and copy icons are for non-package Guest Room types and the checkboxes will be grayed out and unselectable. 



Best Practices

  1. Ensure to always follow your internal SOPs for guidance when using the Room Block Manager
  2. For properties without a PMS, when manually inputting room blocks, verify the entries for accuracy and consistency between Thynk and the PMS.
