As we continue to expand globally and onboard new customers around the world, a big focus has been on developing a more flexible tax model that allows our customers to support complexity and state tax configurations that are common in the United States.
In this release, we are excited to launch support for global sales taxes. Admins can read more about how to configure taxes in our Sales Tax Guide . Discover how taxes are applied at the booking level .
Another major update in this release is related to “Shareable Spaces.” A shareable space is a function space that can host multiple events at the same time. When creating a property’s function spaces, admins can now designate certain spaces as shareable. By default, a shareable space can have as many simultaneous events as the space’s configured capacity allows.
However, we also introduced the ability to “privatize” a shareable space. Let’s say a group calls and wants to buy out the entire restaurant or lobby bar. To that end, at the booking level, you can simply privatize a function space for the full duration of the booking event. Find out more about shareable spaces .
Another update in this release is to evaluate the status of a booking event in the overbooking process. For users who have access to overbooking, if the primary event in the overbooked space is confirmed, no additional events can be added to the space.
We now support the ability to overbook function spaces within a single booking. All users regardless of the overbooking permission are now able to book multiple events in the same room for a single booking.
We have listened to your feedback about the challenges you face with scheduling conflicts. A common scenario we have heard is:
A tentative booking for Apple has an event scheduled in the ballroom all day Monday, April 17th. This event is assigned in the ballroom and appears on the function diary, but since the booking is not confirmed, users with overbooking permission are able to add additional events to the ballroom.
Since the Apple event was the first to be scheduled, once Apple signs the contract and the booking is confirmed, any additional events will need to be moved to new function spaces. You can think of these additional events like a waitlist or a standby list.
To help facilitate this scenario, we have added automated alerts that will proactively let booking owners know when:
They have an event on the “waitlist” for a function space and the main event in that space is now confirmed. They will have to move the event.
They have an event on the “waitlist” for a function space and the main event is now canceled or the booking lost, so the event is “accepted” into the function space they were waiting for.
Two-way integrations with PMS providers ensure that your data is always up-to-date and clean. We include integration with Oracle Opera, Mews and StayNTouch. As you share your feedback, we continue to optimize the experience and take advantage of new features that our partners are releasing on their roadmap. Here are some of the features we have added to the Thynk platform to create a seamless experience where you can do your work in Thynk and trust that data is flowing with your other systems.
For Mews customers, when a guest room is canceled, we now delete the adjustments for the room type in Mews. If the room was the only room on the booking and it's canceled, we now cancel the block in Mews as well.
If there are active reservations linked to the block in Mews, we also cancel those reservations and delete the adjustments.
To create better usability with the Mews integration, we have improved how Guest Rooms and Reservations are sent to Mews. If there is a reservation guest present on the booking and the "Send to Mews" status is true, any time Guest Rooms are added to the booking, they are also sent to Mews. If individual pickup is in place, reservations will not be generated until the rooming list is updated. Otherwise, reservations will also be sent.
This new logic applies wherever guest rooms can be added:
- New Guest Room via Guest Room list on the booking
- New Guest Room via Room Block Manager
- Clone via Room Block Manager
- Clone via Clone Select tab
As we continue to improve the PMS Block functionality for our Mews customers, we've updated the Room Block Manager on the Booking to ensure that when prices are updated in the grid, the block rates on the PMS Block and the Reservation Prices are also updated.
Mews released the possibility to include the booker and company in the availability block. The booker is the contact who makes the request to the hotel. In Thynk, it is the company or agent contact records that are sent as guests in Mews at the same time as the reservation guest. In this release, the booker and company are now sent to Mews with the block.
There is a new "Open in Mews'' button which can be added to the following pages:
- Guest
- Product
- PMS Block
- Reservation
- Booking
- PMS Account
If you are interested in adding these buttons in Thynk today, please reach out to Thynk for support . In a future release, they will be available by default on all of the above pages.
With the introduction of custom combo products , you can now add combo products to a booking and modify quantities.
Bookings contain details such as the account information, contact for the booking, guest rooms blocked, function rooms, commissions, packages, and more. Here are the latest updates to help you manage your bookings more effectively and efficiently.
We've resolved a data update issue where changes made to a guest room outside of a package were also updating the packaged guest room.
Previously, if there were any failures in the rooming list upload, none of the records would be updated, even those without errors. The process will now successfully process updates where there is no error associated in the upload.
We've continued to improve shortcuts on the booking such as the clone tab, which allows for quick copying of components within a booking. Now, if a package is cloned, we ensure that the dates of the booking package and the dates of the booking products and events match.
Field labels were also updated in this latest release to match the new naming conventions\(MYCE Quote -> Booking, Quote Hotel Room -> Guest Room, etc.)
