Blocking Your Entire Hotel for a Private Event

Some hotels may have customers who block the entire property for a wedding to accommodate all their wedding guests.  Another example could be an incentive trip for larger companies where they want to take over the property for a few days. 


If your hotel has the tendency to be sold as a whole, your Thynk Admin may have already configured Thynk with a function space called “Exclusive Use” which has ‘child’ combo spaces for all the spaces that would automatically be blocked off. 

This ‘Exclusive Use’ function space will not be shareable.

If you don’t see a function space ‘Exclusive use’, please check with your Thynk Admin.

Best Practices for Tracking Outlet Buyout/Exclusive Use

  • If your hotel tends to use outlet buyouts and exclusive use, it’s important to denote it on the booking for operational and for reporting purposes. For small hotels it’s important to see how many exclusive use bookings they are booking per year, and of course they can look at seasonality and for general yield management.

  • If your system has not been configured as explained in this lesson and video, and you need this capability of blocking off the entire hotel, please speak with your director and your Thynk Admin.
